Six Simple Habits for Beautiful & Glowing Skin

A Habit is something that you do often and regularly, sometimes without really knowing that you are doing it.
By building daily beauty habits into your routine, you are investing in yourself and You don’t need to make big changes or do anything drastic to improve the way you look and feel; all it takes is keeping up with some simple tasks.

Wear Sunscreen

This is probably the most important tip that i can give you for maintaining Beautiful skin.
Sunscreen is any substance or product that protects your skin from the damaging effects of sun’s ultraviolet rays. While the sun’s rays can make you feel more energetic and attractive when you get a tan, you should avoid going out without wearing sunscreen.
Most of the damage done to our skin is from the sun, so protect yourself 365 days a year; and it doesn’t matter if it’s cloudy, you still need to wear it when ever you are going out.

There are two types of UV light that you need to worry about; UVA and UVB. You need to buy a sunscreen with a broard-spectrum coverage to protect you from both and it should be minimum SPF 15 but ideally SPF 50 for your face, neck and other areas that are regularly exposed. It is best practise to apply it 20 minutes before you get into the sun.
Combine the sunscreen with wearing a hat, sunglasses and protective clothing, plus standing in shade when possible.

Be Hydrated

Your body depends on water to survive. Every cell, tissue, and organ in your body needs water to work properly.
Picture a raisin for a minute: all dried up and wrinkled. Now, picture a beautiful juicy grape: smooth, round and yummy. We all need to keep ourselves hydrated – and i want to be a grape, not a raisin.
Most people have been told they should drink 6 to 8 glasses of water each day. That is a reasonable goal. However, different people need different amounts of water to stay hydrated. Most healthy people can stay well hydrated by drinking water and other fluids whenever they feel thirsty. For some people, fewer than 8 glasses may be enough. Other people may need more than 8 glasses each day. Signs that you may not be drinking enough water include urine that’s darker than usual, constipation headaches and dry skin. If you’re thirsty, this is your body’s natural inbuilt signal for you to drink more.

It is easy to forget to drink – we’ve all been guilty of that! However think of water as your calorie-free friend who not only helps keep you healthy on the inside, but glowing & beautiful on the outside too.

Be Nutritious

Your eating habits has a big impact on the way you look and feel, so while good quality cosmetic products are a must have, a healthy and nutritious diet will make you radiate beauty from the inside out.

      • Stop eating after 7pm so as to fast overnight in order to give body a well-needed break to get time to repair itself

Get 8 hours of sleep

The old saying says you need to get your beauty sleep. This sentiment is exactly correct.
Sleep is the time that your body repairs itself: it’s repairing damaged cells and producing collagen. Collagen is a structural protein that is a major component in the body especially in skin, muscles and tendons. It acts like a fine net for your skin and helps it looking firm.
Studies show getting quality sleep on a regular basis can help improve all sorts of issues, from your blood sugar to your workouts.
Study on sleep also suggests it’s really important for our ability to metabolise glucose, and when we don’t get enough sleep it can disrupt the function of the harmones that relate to appetite.

So along with nutrition and exercise, good ‘beauty sleep’ is one of the pillars of health.

Be Fit

Your physical and mental fitness go hand in hand. Good physical & mental health leads to beautiful and glowing skin.
Exercise increases the oxygen that goes to your skin and gives you a great glow. Sweating helps clean out your pores, as the trapped dirt and oil moves out with the sweat, cleansing skin in the process. It’s like getting facial!
It’s been proven that regular exercise can lower stress levels and improve mood; and it also helps with great night’s sleep.

Look after your gut

What you eat isn’t just nutrition for you, it also feeds the trillions of bacteria that live in your gut. There is mounting evidence that many of our health problems may be at least partly related to the gut. After all gut is home to around 70 percent of our immune system and is where we absorb many of our key nutrients. So if you are not feeding it healthy fuel then it’s harder for us to keep running at peak fitness.

For a good gut health, Eat a wide range of plant-based, fibre rich foods and avoid highly processed foods. A healthy gut has a diverse community of microbes, each of which prefers different foods.
Add more Probiotic foods in your diet, such as live yoghurt, might encourage more microbes to grow. Eat them if you enjoy them.
